| The issue of " (Perpetual) Eternal Spiritual Death" in this sermon is approached with great respect and thus adheres to the reality of Hell. VERY well done my friend! As you alluded to, fire is used to describe hell in numerous texts. Here is another. ... Isaiah 47:11-14 ( speaking on sorcery ) 13 All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. 14 Surely they are like stubble; {{{ the fire will burn them up.}}}} They cannot even save themselves from the {{{power of the flame.}}}} {{{{{ Here are no coals to warm anyone; here is no fire to sit by. }}}}} To me it looks like being spiritually dead to God is an ETERNALLY uncomfortable Enterprise. No light to see, and no warmth is the condition of the spiritually dead as they eternally (burn) having been separated from God. During the translations, the literal may have been the intention just as it is outlined in the popular first definition in the English vernaculars of "fire" and "burn". The secondary definitions, and those following are also "kind of literally true" even though the application of such appears to look metaphorical in the occurrences in the Bible. At any rate, the debate continues. This is wonderful thinking that doesn't "twist' long standing doctrine.
As children of God, we should do our best to try and save as many as we can from the reality of Hell...no matter what the temperature is!! : ) God Bless you Ed! |
